The ranking model draws on economic, demographic and housing market data to assess the outlook for rental demand across the UK’s largest 60 towns and cities.
There are 5 key components to the type of data assessed: Jobs and Local economy, Demographic, Affordability, Enterprise and Innovation, and Scale for Investment.
Shown here are a few of those segments. The Jobs and Local economy sector takes into account factors like employment growth and the presence of knowledge based industries. Top ranked cities here are: London, Bristol and Aldershot.
The Enterprise and Innovation segment looks to the future economic health of cities, like the presence of new sector industries (like tech). Top ranked cities here are: London, Edinburgh and Bristol.
The demographic segment looks at factors like population growth and the presence of a younger demographic (more likely to rent). Top ranked cities here include: Cardiff, Exeter and Coventry.
