Halloween or Homes?

It’s the most spook-tacular time of year, and with Halloween landing on a Saturday, households across the UK are gearing up for parties, fancy dress and fang-tastically decorated doorsteps.

UK Halloween spending is forecast to reach a frightening £705m in 2026, up 6% on last year. That’s enough to buy around 2,590 average UK homes, at £272,611 each, though we can’t promise they won’t be haunted.

Nearly half of shoppers (46%) plan to join the fun, rising to 78% among families, while alcoholic drinks are set to be the fastest-growing category, up 13%, as grown-ups look for treats of their own.

Younger adults are going big, with one in five 25 to 34-year-olds planning to spend more than last year, compared with 9% of all adults, according to Nationwide. Source: Dataloft by PriceHubble, Savvy 2026, Nationwide 2026, ONS UK HPI July 2026.
