Beautiful countryside and outdoor living on the doorstep make Britain’s National Parks some of the most desirable places to live, while strict limits on new building keep housing supply tight.
A home inside a National Park commands a 24% premium over a similar property elsewhere, worth around £66,500 in cash terms based on the current UK average house price.
The appeal reaches beyond park boundaries, with homes within 5km of a National Park still attracting a 6% premium over those further away.
The New Forest remains the most expensive National Park, with an average price of £563,000, followed by the South Downs at £485,000 and the Peak District at £450,000.
At the other end of the scale, Eryri (Snowdonia) averages £203,000 and the Cairngorms £255,000, while Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, within easy reach of Glasgow, averages £330,000. Source: Nationwide Q2 2026, ONS, National Parks UK.
