Levenshulme Market in Final 3 For a Prestigious BBC Award
Levy Market has made it to the final for the BBC Food and Farming Award, alongside A Small Good Thing (a Bolton-based community greengrocer) and Squash Liverpool (an arts and health initiative), in the category of Best Shop or Market.
The awards' judges (Leyla Kazim - a food and travel photographer and writer - and Mark Diacono - a food writer, grower and photographer) will be visiting the finalists over the next few weeks to decide who should be crowned the winner, which will be announced at a ceremony in Bristol on June 12.
Christine Felton, manager of the market says: "We’re so, so thrilled to have made it to the final three, and we love that all finalists in this category are from the North West and have a community or social focus.
And we're proud to have so many exceptional chefs, makers and producers on our stalls each week.
"We’d also like to say a huge thank you to our customers, as it was their nominations that got us to this point. We’ve had so much community support, so whatever happens we’re absolutely delighted."
What other encouragement do you need to visit Levy Market? If you've never been then make sure to check it out, it's located on the train station car park every weekend throughout March to December.Leave a comment
