Honey, I’m home
World Honey Bee Day is on the third Saturday in August and brings a buzzing celebration for beekeepers, honey lovers, and all things blooming.
Many home addresses feature bee related names. There are a buzzworthy 498 roads across the country that contain the word ‘Honey'.
World Honey Bee Day began in 2009, quickly bringing awareness to the benefits and environmental needs of honey bees. There are estimated to be over 270,000 hives in the UK – equivalent to one for every 100 UK households.
Planting flowers rich in nectar, such as lavender and bluebells, and buying locally sourced honey can all help support these much-loved insects. Source: #Dataloft, National Day Calendar, Gov.uk, ONS
