Business Development In Stockport Drives Property Demand

Rebecca Galgut Jun 28, 2018, 14:17 PM

It would be fair to say that business development and demand for property goes together. This makes sense. After all, if companies are setting up in an area, there will be jobs on offer. People will be keen to move to the area to find employment and the additional income in the area can stimulate activity in the property market. There has been considerable work in the property market in Stockport of late, but the development of business property and the influx of new firms has provided added impetus to the work that is being carried out.

Business development in Stockport stands at an all time high. In the past year, deals have been completed for over one million square feet of business space. This is pleasing but the real benefit of business development comes in the creation of jobs. Reports suggest that 2,060 jobs have been brought to Stockport with this development while close to 1,000 jobs have been retained in the town. It is good to see figures like the £1 billion development figure being branded with respect to Stockport, but it is the positive impact on the job market and the local economy that is the most enjoyable aspect of Stockport’s development.

Local Stockport firms have prospered in recent times

It is good to see local firms taking the chance to expand with companies like Rowlinson Knitwear, Wheatley Plastics, CDL and O’Neill Patient Solicitors. There have also been firms from outside of the local area deciding to set up in Stockport including Creams, Advanced Laser Technology and LSH Auto. The introduction of LSH Auto to the area has been well received with an investment of £60m coming in the form of a new dealership and a regional hub for renowned name Mercedes-Benz. This is something that catches attention and makes sure people notice the changes that are taking place in Stockport today.

Prospective buyers want to enjoy local life

While it is important to see businesses develop and create new jobs for residents, it is also important to see leisure and entertainment options develop too. A fantastic example of positive changes in this area for Stockport can be seen with Aurora Stockport. More than 80% of the units have been filled and some firms are operating in Stockport for the first time. Names like The Gym Group, Pizza Express, Zizzi, Berretto Lounge and The Light Cinema are all now available for Stockport residents. In fact, The Light Cinema has already seen more than 200,000 people use the cinema since opening.

All these aspects come together to ensure Stockport is a place that people are happy to work and socialise. These elements combine to ensure that Stockport, with a fantastic range of properties suitable for a wide range of buyers and budgets, is a place worth considering when looking for a new home.
