Everything to play for: Women’s FIFA World Cup

TomS - Head Tom Simper Aug 22, 2023, 11:30 AM

Despite heartbreak in the World Cup final, the Lionesses are inspiring a new generation of sportswomen. In England alone, the EURO 2022 legacy created over 416,000 new opportunities to engage women and girls in grassroots football activities across schools, clubs and the community.

Since the last World Cup, property prices have also been on the rise. Despite the current softening in prices, the average house price has increased by 23.6% since the last Women’s FIFA World Cup in 2019.

Football is the UK’s favourite spectator sport and the most popular team sport to participate in. An estimated 13.5 million people regularly play in some form.

There are more than 21,600 community playing fields in Great Britain, occupying over 54,000 hectares, enough space for 76,000 football pitches! Source: #Dataloft, UK HPI, Ordnance Survey, Magic League, England Football
