Community Counts

TomS - Head Tom Simper Apr 11, 2025, 10:15 AM

The Sunday Times’ Best Place to Live in the UK 2025 focused on more than just good schools or fast broadband. Most important was a strong sense of community, followed by transport links, culture, green spaces, and a thriving high street.

Community is vital to residents, 69% of renters would rent longer if there was a sense of community in the local area. The regional winners for come in all shapes and sizes, from the village of Ilmington in the Midlands, North Berwick in Scotland to the London suburb of Walthamstow.

Saffron Walden takes the top spot, due to its historic looks, excellent state schools, a rich cultural offering as well as its convenient commuter links. Source: Sunday Times 2025, Dataloft (PriceHubble), Property Academy 2024
