Halloween spend in the UK in 2022 is forecast to be £687 million, up 15% on last year (Finder).

This growth in spending, spookily, almost matches the house price growth over the last 12 months of 13.6% (Nationwide to August).

A big proportion of that spend is on pumpkins. Last year, the UK spent a scary £25.2 million on 17 million pumpkins, the equivalent to buying 85 homes (at the current average UK house price of £296,000 as at August 2022, ONS).

It would also seem that some home movers like a little bit of Halloween in their lives every day. These brave souls have bought properties in streets like Cemetery Road, Cauldron Crescent and Graves Way in the last 12 months. Source: Dataloft, Land Registry, Nationwide, Finder, ONS
