Pancake day

Pancakes have become such a popular Shrove Tuesday tradition that on 16th February, a whopping 52 million eggs will have been used in the UK. That is 22 million more than your average day, eggciting stuff!

With the average egg costing 19p, this equates to a total spend of £9.62 million on eggs. With the UK average house price of £249,633, this could almost buy you 39 houses.

The largest pancake was created in Rochdale in 1994, by the Co-Operative Union, Ltd. The pancake had a surface area of 1,905 sq ft, 53% bigger than the internal size of an average UK detached house (1,249 sq ft).
