ATTENTION LANDLORDS IN SALFORD
Salford City Council has designated an additional HMO licensing scheme in Salford. Under the scheme, private landlords who rent out a three or four person small HMO property in Salford, will be required to obtain a licence from the council, subject to any statutory exemptions.
Currently landlords in Salford who operate houses in multiple occupation with five or more occupants who form two or more households will require a Mandatory HMO licence. As of 19th July a new additional license will be required if there are three or four occupants who form two or more households.
This new scheme will last for 5 years.
It is a criminal offence to operate a privately rented property without a licence. A landlord will also commit a criminal offence if they fail to comply with any of the conditions of a licence. The licence conditions can be found below.
